- Knowledge of arc welding equipment (AC/DC), including setup and maintenance
- Practical experience in MIG/MAG, FCAW, and gas-shielded welding
- Ability to perform tack welding and prepare components for welding Understanding of types of welded joints, seams, and quality requirements
- Edge preparation skills and knowledge of joint types and weld symbols on drawings
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding symbols Understanding of properties of metals, alloys, and welding consumables (electrodes, wires)
- Knowledge of welding defects (porosity, cracks, lack of fusion) and methods of prevention and repair
- Ability to perform basic weld inspection and quality control
- Understanding of welding distortions and internal stresses and how to minimize them
- Experience with measuring and testing tools
- Compliance with safety requirements, including safe handling of gas cylinders Understanding of surface quality requirements after cutting and welding
